Pierfrancesco Agostoni (born 1975) is originally from Milan, Italy. He obtained his M.D. diploma at the University of Milan and completed undergraduate medical training at San Raffaele Hospital, both in Milan. He then moved to Verona, Italy, where he became cardiologist in the local University. He spent periods of training in clinical research applied to interventional cardiology at the Thoraxcenter, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands (with Professor Patrick Serruys), and at the Centro Cuore Columbus, in Milan, Italy (with Doctor Antonio Colombo). He then moved to Antwerp, Belgium where he is currently Interventional Cardiologist at the Antwerp Cardiovascular Institute Middelheim of the Algemene Ziekenhuis (General Hospital) Middelheim. Pierfrancesco's clinical and research interests in percutaneous coronary interventions, together with a passion for statistics, have resulted in several publications and lectures to national and international congresses. He is also reviewer for numerous international journals. Finally, he is an ESC (European Society of Cardiology) and EAPCI (European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions) member. Pierfrancesco has also a strong interest in clinical trials and in contract research organization (CRO) and core laboratory activities. He worked as a senior analyst for quantitative coronary angiography (QCA) and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) in Mediolanum Cardio Research, a CRO based in Milan, Italy, and in genae associates NV, a CRO based in Antwerp, Belgium. Pierfrancesco in his spare time (not much really) enjoys practicing sports, in particular amateur running (he attended the Stramilano in Milan and the 10 Miles in Antwerp) and football (he plays field [11 vs. 11] football with the Nieuw Boechout team and indoor [5 vs. 5] football with the Aesclepios team, both in Belgian leagues).
